Green Zeolite (5 – 30mm) is a naturally formed mineral that have a curious micro porous structure known as a “molecular sieve” In simple terms they can be thought of as being full of countless tiny holes. These micro pores have the ability to absorb different molecules, more specifically for this introduction, Sodium (Na+) and Ammonia (NH3) molecules.
When to use?
When your pond or tank has an unexpected spike in Ammonia (NH3), or when a new biological filter is maturing. If fish are moved into a ‘Hospital Tank or Pond’ that dose not have a matured biological filter.

How to use?
- Place into the filter bag and rinse under a tap.
- Place in the filter in an area with a strong flow of water.
- The Green Zeolite will absorb Ammonia (NH3) molecules into its pores.
- Test your water quality, when ammonia removal slows down, recharge the Zeolite.
To recharge
Prepare a bucket of water with a Pond Salt (Sodium Chloride/ NaCl) solution (one tablespoon per Litre of water) and soak the Green Zeolite in it for 24 hours. This removes the Ammonia and frees up the pores. After you recharge you’re your Zeolite, you can re-use it. Zeolite can be used for about 5 years.
We do not recommend the use of zeolite as the only method for removing ammonia from your tank or pond water, the biological section of your filter should be doing this.
Zeolite is not a Filter Media
If you going to use salt as medication or for any other reason adding salt to your water, remove the Zeolite.
Zeolite is not for use in Sea Water, Marine fish tanks.
