NAME | Sodium Bicarbonate |
ACTIVE INGREDIENT | (NaHCO₃) |
USED FOR | Increasing pH by increasing KH (Alkalinity) |
Sudden pH crashes are every aquarist's nightmare. There are numerous reasons for pH crashing, and in such an event, the safest and most efficient way to boost your Tank or Pond water pH, is by adding Sodium Bicarbonate. Dosing your Tank or Pond water with Sodium Bicarbonate immediately increases KH (Alkalinity), correspondingly increasing pH.
WHEN TO USE SODIUM BICARBONATE | Sudden and unexpected pH crash |
Chronic low pH |
HOW TO USE SODIUM BICARBONATE | KH is measured in PPM or dKH 01 Unit of dKH equals 17.86 ppm |
01 Gram of Sodium Bicarbonate to 40 litres water Increases Alkalinity by approximately 20 ppm or 1.12 dKH |
|
Weigh correct dose, mix with water and pour into tank or pond
Raise KH by 20 ppm every 6 hours
Sodium Bicarbonate does not increase pH beyond 8.3 – 8.4 However it will keep boosting your KH, increasing Alkalinity. |
WARNING |
Do not increase your pH rapidly, doing so will stress fish, which can lead to mortalities |
