Filters

The main purpose of a Filter is to keep the Fish Tank or Pond clean of solid matter (Mechanical Filtration) and the removal of ammonia produced by fish (Biological Filtration). Though Filters are available in various forms, size, and shape – the end objective is the removal of solid matter and ammonia.

When choosing a Filter, factors that must be considered;

  1. Volume of Water – Size of Fish Tank or Pond
  2. Stocking Density – The size and number of fish
  3. Feed Rate – How much of Feed will be fed per day.
  4. Flow Rate – The volume of water you want flowing through the filter hourly
  5. Ease of Cleaning - any type of filter you you choose must be easy to clean, and simple to maintain
